Money Savings Tips for the Common Man
Let's get right to the point. JewJew.net is going to show you how to live with less and save money in all things you do. Many will think that some ideas are outright crazy but that does not mean that you are right. We strive to provide real-life advice on how to make every dollar count and not waste money as we have seen so many, many people do. The world would be a better place if we could just make an effort not to waste money but put it to efficient use.
But enough said, let's get to the actual advice in no particular order and in bullet form for easier assimilation.

- use toilet paper instead of napkins/paper towels - it costs less and is usually big enough for most uses (wipe up a little spill, blow your nose, etc.)
- tear paper towels/napkins into 1/2 or even 1/3 pieces when eating dinner. Nobody needs a full piece for wiping their mouth
- buy all your clothes at second-hand stores - you can find good quality stuff in thrift stores
- only ever buy used cars. Japanese made Toyotas or Hondas are you best bet for longevity and resale value
- when not doing much physical work you should shower less and save on shower/bath supplies, water and time. Your skin will also thank you for doing so
- share a car between a few people (family, friends, etc.)
- if distances allow for it, walk or bike to work and shopping as much as humanly possible
- only shop for groceries right AFTER you have eaten - you buy less that way
- only buy and groceries that are on sale - do not let your taste buds rule you
- eat rice with lentils/peas/beans a lot - they are a good, nutritious food for little money
- count your money
- only buy with cash during physical transactions - you will spend less when you see bills and coins disappearing from your wallet
- use your credit card points to buy gifts (such as gift cards) for others for their birthday or as Christmas presents
- get a set amount of cash from the bank on the 1st of each month (for example: $250 for one person) and make it last for for all your grocery shopping for the whole month
- if you can get gasoline cheaper across the border or in another state/province, do it
- buy used furniture
- work less stressful work - that will cut down on you wanting to treat yourself excessively because you think you deserve it because of all the hard work you do
- "work hard - play hard" does NOT save you money
- be content with little
- be content to use older things that others do not want anymore
- work efficiently (precise and fast) - you will make more money faster
- use LED lights only - old light bulbs use way too much electricity
- if you have lots of land and lots of grass and bushes to cut, cut less often and only clear a small area that you really need for getting in and out - landscaping costs money in equipment, gasoline and time
- get rid of cable TV - watch old DVDs and download movies/shows from free sources on the internet
- download free ,old computer games for free entertainment
- never eat out - it cost 2-6 times more than making your own food
- do not go out into populated areas too often - you tend to buy more when you are near stores, etc.
- do not drive around your car for fun - you use expensive gasoline for no reason
- have your kids or grand parents help you in you line of work - it builds character in the kids and helps in making the work easier and faster
- grow your own food as much as possible - especially in the winter when certain veggies are expensive
- start your own home-based business early in life - keeps transportation costs down and let's you be mobile in case you have to move to a less expensive location
- start your own (home) business to have more write-offs
- employ as many people as possible that have not reached their tax income threshold - that way you can claim their wages but they do not have to pay any taxes
- buy less and walk more in nature
- entertain yourself with healthy free things like walks and hikes
- always do your own taxes
- if you have excess money, give it to family members that do not have a business for safe keeping. They can keep your money on their account because the less you have, the less can be taken away from you
- sign a prenup if you want to marry - it is fairer for both sides
- heat your home with wood if you have access to dead trees and other free wood products
- look in other countries for goods you need - oftentimes you can save money even with shipping and currency exchange rates
- eat less but healthy
- do not put your kids into expensive sports/hobbies. Instead go into nature with them as much as possible and teach them to enjoy it and be entertained by it
- do not buy cell phones for your kids - they will spoil their character and cost a lot of money
- do not pay college/university for your kids - they can take loans and pay it off themselves later when they work
- maintain your own house as much as possible yourself - every skilled labourer/technician costs a lot of money
- own your own business so you can travel during "low season" - when you are flexible with your schedule you can travel for a lot less
- keep your teeth in good shape - many countries do not pay for dental costs
- avoid taking your pets to the vet as much as possible - they are very costly and not genuinely out to help you. They do see it as a business and want to make money on you
- drink only water - avoid all pop and acohol
- do not smoke or do drugs - it is very costly and bad for you
- make use of free food sources in your area (such as wild apples, wild blueberries, dandelion greens, wild spinach, etc)
- pay for your house as fast as possible - otherwise the interest will kill you
- do not burn too many bridges - often you will need one in the future
- pay all your bills right away
- never have credit card debt - instead pay you credit card into the "negative" to act as a regular account
- do not buy a machine to do a job that you can do manually
- do not stock up on too many things - you could die tomorrow and then all that accumulated stuff is useless
- when you own a house that is worth a lot, sell it early in life and move to a cheaper (but nice) area and enjoy your money BEFORE you get old, sick and tired
- if you cannot win, stop fighting relentlessly
- do not belief and depend on humans in general - they are out for themselves and not you. Rather belief and depend on a higher power - i.e. God
- every now and then treat yourself to something nice, so that you do not loose hope
- do not use dishwashers - a waster of water and electricity. Do your dishes by hand
- trade when you can - buying and selling incurs taxes
- do not own large pets that do not give you any food but just cost money for food and vets - rather have small pets or food pets like chickens, cows ,etc.
- do not own expensive toys (like off road vehicles, dirt-bikes, etc.) that require maintenance and gasoline, oil, etc.
- travel! - it expands your horizon and can teach you important life lessons by observing other cultures
- do not eat like a pig and get fat - exercise outside and eat little
- do not waste food - eat what you have on your plate and cook less to avoid having to throw things away
- do not spend money on vanity such as beauty, showing off, etc.
- work for cash whenever possible
- if someone owes you money and you know he has plenty in his wallet, take it out right away - one less thing to worry about and your debtor will appreciate that the case is closed
- never take credit card payments in business - customers can reverse the charges without a valid reason (or made-up reason) for up to 90 days after the transaction
- always take cash, check or wire-transfer payments in business - they are safe and irreversible
- always make sure that the deposit you take in a business transaction covers all your material costs
- in business get payment in full before shipping anything out
- always fly economy/coach - it costs far less than any other class and the flight will take just as long

- when you buy doors they should be lift and slide doors for their large opening widths and performance
- when you need new doors for your house use frameless doors to save on trim costs
